This website tries to relate the history of each of the units
raised between June 1940 and December 1945.

Some of them took part in the fighting at the end of the war in Western Europe.

Most of them however did not, but nevertheless they had their share of history
to tell their children and grandchildren.

All of them put on their uniform with the intention to fight the enemy
even if they had to give their live for obtaining freedom and democracy.

Several units designed, made, and wore a formation badge,
mainly to strengthen the unity between men
and to symbolise what they achieved during the years or months
they were into action.

In the military archives one finds only very rare information
concerning those formation badges.

The second purpose of this website is to give a survey
of the known formation badges and insignia.

Most of the information comes from Warveterans and from rather rare literature.

All the pictures, badges, insignia and other items shown on this website
come from my collection and archive, unless otherwhise mentionned.

If you should happen to know a formation badge
that is not listed on this Web-Site,
please don't hesitate to contact me.
