1945

SHORT HISTORY

The 60th Fuselier Battalion was raised at Hoogboom (Antwerp) on June 18 1945.

On July 6 1945 the unit was administratively attached to the 22nd Fuselier Brigade "RAPENBURG".

After the initial training period the battalion is put at the disposal of the 21st Army Group on September 9 1945.

Due to the fact that the Allied Authorities had no tasks anymore for new fuselier battalions,
the unit is already put back at the disposal of the Belgian Authorities  on October 15 1945.

The 60th Fuselier Battalion is disbanded at Hoogboom on October 21 1945.

Commanding Officers
Senior Captain GRANDJEAN from the start until August 11 1945
Senior Captain MASSART from August 11 1945 until September 6 1945
Major SODERMANS from September 6 1945 until disbandment

FORMATION BADGE

The 60th Fuselier Battalion normally had to wear the formation badge of the 22nd Fuselier Brigade "RAPENBURG".

As far as known the formation badge of the 22nd Fuselier Brigade "RAPENBURG"
was produced but never distributed.

Therefore one can assume that, combined with the fact of the short period of existence,
the 60th Fuselier Battalion wore no formation badge.

OTHER INSIGNIA

Belgian Rank Insignia were worn.

On the shoulder straps the Belgian Crown, for the Infantry, was  worn above the number "22".

The Infantry flash was worn on both sleeves.

On the left sleeve the white "BELGIUM" title was worn.

On the right sleeve the Belgian National Colours were worn.
